Contract Protection for Producers

YOUR
CONTRACT
IS RIGGED.

Labels and artists slip predatory clauses into producer contracts knowing most beatmakers won't catch them. Track Law scans every clause — royalty grabs, exclusive lockouts, work-for-hire traps — and writes the negotiation scripts to push back.

HOW IT WORKS

THREE STEPS.
ZERO SURPRISES.

01

PASTE YOUR CONTRACT

Drop the full text of any producer agreement, beat lease, or exclusive deal. PDF, Google Docs link, or raw text — we handle it all.

02

WE FLAG THE TRAPS

Our system scans every clause against a database of predatory patterns — royalty gaps, undefined recoupables, work-for-hire language, audit restrictions.

03

GET YOUR SCRIPTS

Get a plain-language breakdown of every issue plus Discord-ready negotiation scripts you can copy and send directly to the artist or label.

WHAT WE CATCH

REAL CLAUSES.
REAL CONSEQUENCES.

ROYALTY SPLIT

CRITICAL
"Producer hereby grants Artist a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, distribute and sell recordings..."

No percentage defined anywhere in the contract. You could walk away with 0%.

EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS

HIGH
"Beat shall be exclusively licensed to Artist for a period of five (5) years with option to renew..."

"Option to renew" means they can lock you out indefinitely. You lose the beat entirely.

WORK FOR HIRE

CRITICAL
"All compositions and sound recordings created hereunder shall be considered works made for hire under copyright law..."

You surrender all copyright. They own your beat forever. No royalties. No credit required.

PAYMENT TERMS

HIGH
"Payment shall be made within ninety (90) days of commercial release, net of all recoupable expenses..."

"Recoupable expenses" is undefined. They can deduct marketing, legal, anything — before paying you.

PERFORMANCE ROYALTIES

MEDIUM
"Artist shall retain all public performance income collected by PROs on behalf of the master recording..."

Missing "and composition." You get zero from radio, streaming, and sync without both.

AUDIT RIGHTS

HIGH
"Statements shall be binding and final unless Artist objects in writing within sixty (60) days..."

60 days is unusually short. Industry standard is 2–3 years. You can't audit what's already "final."

NEGOTIATION SCRIPTS

READY TO SEND.
NO LAWYER NEEDED.

Every flagged clause comes with a pre-written negotiation message you can copy directly into Discord, iMessage, or email. Firm, professional, and grounded in actual industry standards.

TRACK LAW — 3 ISSUES FLAGGED
Hey [Artist Name],

I've reviewed the contract and there are a few terms I need to address before we move forward.

RE: Section 4 — Royalty Split
The current draft doesn't specify my producer royalty %. Industry standard is 3–5% of net receipts. I need that figure written in before I sign.

RE: Section 7 — Exclusive Rights
The "option to renew" clause is too open-ended. I'm okay with a 2-year exclusive window, but renewal requires mutual written agreement — not automatic.

RE: Section 12 — Work For Hire
I can't agree to WFH status. I'll grant you a broad license, but I retain the underlying copyright. This is non-negotiable.

I've attached a redline with my suggested edits. Happy to hop on a call this week.
